Named after a pre-conquest ‘Guanche’ chieftain and the oldest son of the owner, this pretty cottage is probably over 200 years old and forms part of a beautiful hamlet abounding with palms and tropical fruit trees at the start of one of the most renowned walking trails on La Gomera. Although the original exterior has been preserved, inside it has been completely renewed with cane ceilings, tiled floors, a twin bedroom, new bathroom with shower, and sitting room with separate kitchen. The terrace outside is dominated by a magnificent purple bougainvillaea which provides shady patches most of the day. Although there are no shops or bars in Pastrana, the local baker passes by in time for breakfast, selling freshly baked bread and cakes from his van.
Casa Enebie is about 250 metre above sea level so it is cooler here in winter than at the coast. A great place to stay for those who like walking. Parking is on the road outside the house. It is less than 15 minutes drive to Santiago, its shops, restaurants, beach and other facilities.
