La Gomera’s capital with a population of 6000, it is the island’s main ferry port, where the bus routes start and finish and is the only place with a fruit and vegetable market (every Wednesday and Saturday). A convenient place for those not wishing to hire a car, the town also has two sandy beaches and a good selection of shops and restaurants. Casa Amanda is just above the town centre and Quintero is centrally located. Lomo Fragoso y Honduras (Casas Zaida) is a 10 minute drive along the valley and Chejelipes with its fertile cultivated terraces (Casa Claudia) is another kilometre up the same country road.
