This area just inland from the south coast is devoted principally to commercial banana cultivation. Many plantations are covered with protective awnings and interspersed amongst them are small villages, restaurants and shops. The resort of Las Galletas provides the nearest beach 3km away although El Médano and Los Cristianos sandy beaches are infinitely preferable. The climate here is warm and sunny most days of the year. There is also a golf course in the area.
