The only area in Tenerife to retain some original ‘laurisilva’ cloud forest, the Anaga offers great walks as well as several beaches in the north and south of the peninsula, the most famous being Playa de las Teresitas in the sunnier, more sheltered south (Los Dos Barrancos). Nearby is the capital town of Santa Cruz with its museums and cultural life and the historic university town of La Laguna, a world heritage site. A good place to stay in away from mass tourism as long as you don’t mind the odd cloudy day.
